Dynamic MSA’s

Strategically located between two of the nation’s most dynamic MSA’s; Richmond-Petersburg and Hampton Roads, New Kent County offers an open and relaxed atmosphere yet with the services and pleasures of an urban community.

East Coast Labor Market

  • Richmond: 15 miles west
  • Williamsburg: 15 miles east
  • Norfolk: 60 miles southeast
  • Washington DC: 100 miles north
  • Atlanta, New York and Boston: within 500 miles

Of particular importance is New Kent’s access to two labor markets with broad based skills, a variety of educational institutions and the unusual resource of a large, retired (but young) military population.

Central Location in Virginia

New Kent’s central location bordering both the Richmond and Hampton Roads Metropolitan Statistical Areas, offers the unusual option of taping two, highly skilled labor market pools. These two MSA’s support a large and diverse workforce experienced in the occupations of the tourism, retail, manufacturing, marketing, technology and business services industries.

Excellent Road Systems

With an excellent primary and secondary road system throughout the county and four interchanges on I-64, commuting to and from the metropolitan area of Richmond takes about 30-minutes and Hampton Roads Peninsula will take about 45-minutes from their respective ends of the county.
